Normalcy and productivity

As the world has been flipped on top of its head and we are all adjusting to this temporary lockdown in our homes- one seems too long for a sense of normalcy, a sense of security that the world we know and love is still the same.

Maintaining an everyday routine or a sense of normalcy can help with mental health in the following ways.

● This can help maintain a sense of everyday life and can keep you motivated, productive and

more active.

● This can help calm the anxiety of the future and how strange these days have been feeling.

● Reduces the feeling of lethargy and makes time pass by faster.

● Gives you something to look forward to at the end of the day by completing the various tasks

of the day.

● Keeps you occupied and gives the mindless time to wander.

To maintain normalcy when stuck within the four walls of your house, apartment or even bedroom

you can do the following:-

1. Workout!

One can work on their physical health in the smallest ways possible and now the excuse of not having the time doesn’t work as we have all the time in the world! Even if you decide to do a small fifteen-minute workout off of youtube or a session of yoga in the morning, you’re off to a great start. Many fitness instructors and yoga teachers are taking sessions off of zoom or are putting our youtube videos which are quick and easy.

2. Make a To-Do list

As work has moved online and house help is also staying at home, we all have more work than ever. Students have assignments online and housewives have more people to tend to than they did before. To keep up on work and to meet timeliness, you could start a To-Do list and at the end of the day, reward yourself for completing all the tasks of the day.

3. Dress the part

Being stuck at home is no excuse to lounge in your Sunday attire, get up and get ready for the day, mauve, not the fancy suit but a nice shirt can go a long way. Not only will this help you feel better about yourself, but this will also help separate your time being productive and winding down.

4. Try something new

This is the perfect time to work on a hobby, learn something new, start a new habit or work on yourself to be the best version of yourself. Schools and experts are all offering their services and advice online and you can always sign up for a virtual class or simply use youtube to practise at home.

5. Keep up with those around you

It is easy to get wrapped up in work or just go into a shell during times like this but reach out to your friends and family, organizes a zoom session with your family or has a movie night with your friends over zoom- maybe even dress the part, anything to keep you happy and laughing.
